Disappointed

I was so excited to be ordering from Makro, which has always been a great experience. Not this time. The Courier Service was fabulous and arrived way earlier than anticipated. The advert on Makro's portal states "ST Single Bed (Finish Colour - Beige, Delivery Condition - Pre-assembled)". However, the bed frame itself arrived "un-assembled", in direct conflict with the advert which said "assembled". Workmanship - shoddy to say the least. *****s protruding, untreated and unfinished. Holes drilled for assembly nuts were too shallow and had to be adjusted. Inferior materials used for actual frame, including badly finished planks with raw wood (bark still attached, knots in weight bearing areas and sharp edges and splinters). Sadly, I was unable to return the item for a refund, as explained to the agent I spoke to. I am partially disabled and urgently needed a bed to sleep on, which added the unexpected expense of having to purchase a sealant, varnish, painbrushes and solvents. This was really not the level of service and product I have come to expect and enjoy, having been a Makro customer for in excess of 30 odd years. Simonstown Furnishers, as the supplier of the product to Makro, you also need to "up your game!"
