Defy Fridge from Makro Centurion — Loud Noise, Visible Damage, and Poor Support

I purchased a Defy fridge from Makro Centurion on 02 August 2025, and since that day it has given me nothing but problems.

The fridge makes an extremely loud noise that sounds like a lawn mower, especially at night and in cold weather. It also has visible bends on the sides, and suspicious signs of previous repairs. The inside panels are bent too which multiple technicians confirmed is likely due to mishandling during storage, possibly caused by a forklift.

I have had five technicians come to check the fridge so far:

1. Two said the compressor was loose and tried tightening it, but the noise came back the same night. 2. Another one said the frame is bent, affecting the compressor’s levelness. 3. Another said the bends inside are caused by the outer damage. 4. And another technician said the damage likely happened at the Makro storage area, which I find believable because I personally saw the fridge being unloaded from a container at the back of the store.

Despite all this, none of the technicians would record their findings in writing, and Makro refuses to acknowledge my video evidence showing the defects and how bad the noise is. The last technician even told me there is nothing I can do and that I must use the fridge as it is.

This is unacceptable. The fridge is clearly not new, not of good quality, and not fit for purpose. I have tried to get help for over two months, but Makro and Defy keeps sending people who wont fix the issue or record the truth.

I am requesting a full refund or a proper replacement fridge, one that is new and without defects. If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will be taking this further and seek legal advice.

Makro, please do the right thing and assist your customer.
