Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct by Store Employee Makro Springfield

On 7 June 2026, at approximately 10:00, my wife and I visited the Makro Springfield store to purchase charcoal. While in the store, my wife approached a merchandiser who identified himself as King Dlamini and politely greeted him before asking where charcoal could be found. Despite making eye contact with her, he ignored her and continued packing stock without acknowledging her enquiry. After some time, he responded in an abrupt and discourteous manner, repeatedly saying, "Hello, Hello," in a tone that conveyed impatience and disrespect. He then directed us to Aisle 8, which was not the correct location for the charcoal we were looking for. As a result, we were inconvenienced and left with a very poor impression of the service we received. The conduct displayed by this employee was unprofessional, discourteous, and fell well below the standard of customer service one would reasonably expect from a Makro store and the broader Massmart group. Customers should be treated with respect and assisted in a professional and helpful manner, particularly when making simple enquiries. I trust that this matter will be investigated and that appropriate corrective action will be taken. I would also encourage management to ensure that customer service standards are reinforced amongst staff members, as interactions of this nature negatively affect the reputation of the store and the customer experience. I look forward to your response regarding this complaint. This version is much stronger and more likely to be taken seriously by management because it focuses on the employee's conduct and its impact rather than using personal insults.
