BEYOND PATTHETIC SERVICE

Nelspruit store – BEYOND PATHETIC. Me and my 73 year old spouse drive 140 km at least once a month to do the bulk of our shopping here. Goods - fairly good selection, stock levels and price. Service - beyond pathetic. Our life to date shopping experience here, on at least 70% of occasions my wife packed at the till, despite packers standing idle elsewhere. Accustomed to help where and when required and living to a schedule we preferred this to waiting. Also less damage as wife does not inattentively toss the goods when packing. Today, 14 Mar 2023, worst of all. Scores of staff/merchandisers blocking passages leaning against shelves chatting, much worse than what we got to accept as the norm even for this store. Two female Makro staff members leaning opposite each other on Fleece blankets stock, merrily chatting and refusing to budge prevented us from buying 2 of these. My wife recently had a knee replacement and I did not want her to do the packing. Arrived at cashier 27 at 11H09 and requested a packer from cashier. (Very few other cashiers had customers to attend to.) Was refused although there were at least 11 Makro uniformed personnel standing around in the immediate area. Request to speak to manager denied. Shopped at Spar down the road as a result of this. All cashiers were busy as it was over lunch hour. Before I could start packing, one of the owner/managers arrived and took over, as we experienced on a previous occasion as well. Check your CCTV footage IF this is available, IF you view aforementioned experience as unacceptable. How about smelling the coffee and MANAGING this store? Reminds of the late Dion Wired...
