Beware of Makro_A|_s _A|_14 day return policy_A|A
On 26 August 2015 I purchased a new cellular phone at Makro Strubens Valley. From the word go it was evident that this handset was faulty. Directed by Makro's widely published and prominently displayed 14 day refund/replace policy, I took the phone back to the store on 3 September, well within the 14 day exchange period, only to be bluntly informed that the 14 day policy ABSOLUTELY does not apply to cell phones. All my efforts to see in print that cell phones are excluded from the return policy were in vain. A very rude \somebody should have told me"(what?) was as far as I could get. The official return policy (also published on Makro's website) lists certain exceptions to the 14 day rule such as software"

Thank you for raising your concern with us.
Please find enclosed the Process that both Cell C and Vodacom follow in regard to Handset failures after 7 Days of Purchase.
After 7 days both the Cell Suppliers that we retail in the stores take the handset back to assess the reason for the failure before agreeing the next step.
You can return the phone to the store, where we get a courier to collect it asap and send it to the supplier for this assessment to happen.
The supplier will assess the reason for failure and do one of three things
Manufacture Fault - effect repair .
Manufacture Fault - Replace Handset.
Non-Manufacture Fault - quote for repair cost. This tends to be when there is evidence of post purchase damage - such as Liquid damage or dropping damage.
The Cell phone companies are generally very quick at responding.
Before you start this process - please ensure that all your personal numbers and data are on your Sim or stored somewhere that you have access. This is key - especially if they replace the handset.
