Are national call centers not trained on company policy?

I called the national call centre whose number I found on the back of my Makro card with a simple question, being can I collect my credit owed to me at a different branch which is actually the same branch I bought the item from.

The first time my call was immediately cut upon answering.

The second time I called it was answered, just to have the agent tell me that he does not know and would transfer me to Makro Milnerton.

He then transferred me straight to the main switchboard at Makro Milnerton. After six minutes of holding I hung up.

Why I called is that I thought this was a straight forward question and any agent should know a basic response to a credit owed which I have been called twice to ask me when am I coming to collect it.

Makro Milnerton have done their job by informing me more than once to my credit being available.

If that is the reason you have a national call centre just to transfer one to another store for my reason, then rather close it and put the money into lowering prices.

It is sad that this is a wasted opportunity Makro had to really delight this customer by saving me so much time and fuel as I am heading a few minutes away from Makro Ottery.

I would again like to offer my sincere apologise for the way you feel you were handled by our Contact Centre.

We have picked up a few issues that could be better handled should such an incident occur again, The National Customer Contact Centre Management will certainly follow through and make sure everyone is on the same page with regards to certain processes.

You can only get your credit from Montague Gardens cause that is where the item was handed in for repair/return kindly bring along the accessories.

Regards
