Terrible customer service and no provision for cold weather.

Good Day Makiti team

The venue was set up on time, almost all of what we were promised was present and the wedding co-ordinator that was thrust upon us at the last minute did can excellent job with what she had to work with.

Now unfortunately that's not the whole story. At around 11am, the morning of the wedding I attempted to contact our wedding planner as I was on my way to the venue with the flowers for the day, some thing that at one point was meant to be brought to the venue on the Saturday prior to the wedding and kept in fridges.

I was answered after several call by a lady who seemed quite bothered by my interruption who proceeded to inform me that our wedding planner was on leave (angelique) and our wedding co-ordinator would arrive at the venue 2 hours before the wedding. So essentially I was told that the only person involved in our planning would not be there. This is completely unacceptable as it was not communicated to us prior to the day that she would not be there, nor that we would be passed on to a young lady who we have had no interaction with.

I was then informed that there was in fact no fridge for the flowers and that I should meet a lady at the venue who would help me. Upon arriving at the venue 15 minutes later, there was in fact no lady at the venue to assist me. I and my groomsmen then spent another 20 minutes trying to find someone to assist me. I'll take this moment yet again to remind you that this is on the day of the wedding and the groom is being made to walk the grounds looking for assistance.

When someone finally approached us, she was rude and unhelpful, telling us we could drop the flowers at a table but all she can do is drapping and she can't help us find someone who can help us.

Upon leaving the flowers there we then went to reception to get our room key to get ready. At reception, we encountered yet another missarable face, again I remind you, this is the day of the wedding, a happy day where your clients should be encountering helpful and happy faces that are ready to help. This lady then told us, we would need to pay R100 cash only for the plastic card with a peice of paper badly taped to it, per card. And if we paid any other way, well too bad it's now a fee not a deposit so we won't get it back. Something that across three separate room orders by 3 separate people was not communicated effectively, nor was it communicated to my wife or I ahead of time.

Upon arriving at the honeymoon sweet, my now wife and her brides****s had no hot water in the suite. This is in the middle of winter and over a time where there was no load shedding, yes we have checked. This isn't some random room, but the honeymoon suite. Again unacceptable for the middle of winter.

Upon arriving at the chapel, my groomsmen and my self realized that the side door of the chapel was locked shut with a chain and the candles for the aisle and remembrance table were not lit. This was half an hour before the ceremony started and after guests had started arriving, they were not lit until 10 minutes before and most guests had entered the venue already. Lack luster at best.

Tea, coffee and snacks were great and about the only things that went as expected.

We then entered a bitterly cold reception venue. We were assured the would be ample heater, that was a lie. There were two smallish fires in the fire heaters at the back of the room and the two fires in the fire places. Clearly not enough, and when we asked, we were told that's the best they can do. Our last minute wedding co-ordinator was very attentive and friendly, litterally the only Makiti staff member that was.

My wife and I returned to a bitterly cold honeymoon suite with one tiny wall heater and no hot water, not an evening that dipped to - 3 degrees. This managed to successfully ruin an what should have been an intimate night and make it into a bear grilze survival episode.

We aren't just dissapointed with the service we received but we honestly feel cheated and like someone of what we were meant to enjoy was ****** from us my the Makiti team.

I would like to add that as I write this my wife is fighting off a throat infection on our honeymoon brought on by the absolutely abysmal honeymoon suit experience.

This was the email sent to Makiti after our wedding, the response was, "sorry, I'll let the relavent people know, have a good marriage."

Please don't use this venue if you want happy faces on your wedding day or if you are getting married in winter.
