Sir/Madam,

We wish to express our utmost disappointment, and to be honest, our disgust at the extremely poor meals we had at Makiti yesterday Saturday 21st April 2018.

I was hosting a guest from Ireland and after a morning of tourist activities in the area we decided on lunch at Makiti. Having not been before, I hoped it was a good choice and a chance for my guest to sample traditional South African food.

My guest ordered bobotie with stir fry vegetables and my selection was pork ribs.

The so called bobotie bore absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to traditional bobotie which, as you may or may not know, is a very flavoursome mild curried mince topped with an egg custard and served on yellow aromatic rice with raisins accompanied by sambals and chutney. Instead what arrived was a tasteless, yellow soya slop on insipid white rice. The stir fry vegetables too were tasteless.

My order of pork ribs was unrecognizable from the popular dish of succulent morsels of barbequed meat. They were dry, tasteless with the texture of cardboard. Even the chips were unpalatable.

Most of the food was taken home and fed to the dogs.

The person charged with customer satisfaction merely walked briskly passed asking if everything was ok in the most disinterested tone without even stopping to hear an answer.

I was mortified and SO embarrassed to learn that, while waiting for his flight at the airport, my guest developed severe stomach cramps and thereafter a very upset stomach passing, he says, pieces of the stir fry veg.

The menu prices are in line with GOOD restaurant prices.

In these harsh economic times one expects, as I am sure you do too, to get good quality, FRESH and well prepared meals for our hard earned money.

We are sure this is not the kind of feedback management wishes to be broadcast to friends and family. I am so ashamed that I subjected my guest to a disgusting meal and a bad experience.
