Atrocious Wedding Venue Don't Book and Agree to Nothing not even Verbally!!!!!

I booked on 29 February and was told I can cancel after the food tasting on 6 March. Went for the food tasting and decided no to go with the venue after and because of COVID-19. I canceled on 16 March 6 working days after. Thereafter they want to now sue me for not canceling after 7 days after. They now want to claim 50% of an invoice that we never ever sat down and agreed to as what package I will take. Stay away, they gonna throw you with verbal contracts and mention the law. Be very careful stay away. You have been warned.
