Mahindra (Benoni)
1. I purchased a vehicle (Toyota Corolla 1.6) and drove it home on the 23rd July 2019. The vehicle was parked over the weekend as i used my personal vehicle as I had purchased it purely for business purposes. 2. On Monday, the 29th the car would not start and i reported this to the dealership along with the other little snags ie. the heater and air conditioner was inoperable ) and ultimately the car would not start and the lights on the dashboard were dead. They sent a tow truck and fixed the problems temporarily. 3. I took possession of the vehicle after 2 weeks and on September the 12th, this vehicle was in full use for business (bolt/taxify) by then. The vehicle broke down again . My driver indicated that the hazards , indicators of the car were not working and the car would not move he was stuck out in Midrand somewhere.I had the vehicle towed out of my own pocket and had it delivered on the 13th Sept. 4. On the 7th October , i went to collect the vehicle and drove it home and parked it , on Thursday the 10th October at night, the car would not start again . The following day I tried opening the door of the car and the doors would not open . I contacted the dealership and they collected the vehicle on the 18th October as i had travelled. 5. They contacted me to come and fetch the vehicle and i was willing to take back the vehicle the 4th time , although unhappy with my purchase . That was when they furnished me with an invoice of nearly R3000 for towing and repairs . I protested and left . This vehicle had been fixed up to 3 times I was forced to stop the business and as a result my driver no longer has a job . The dealership alleges that we had tampered with the vehicle , initially they made claims that i had spot lights installed on the vehicle. I told them that that was false and that i had purchased the vehicle with spot lights. i have pictures and i have everything on record . This would defeat the purpose of my business and my driver would most certainly not sabotage his own job . I had no modifications done on the vehicle , accept the roadworthy tests at Dekra PG glasss and Taxify inspection tests at their office. I just needed a simple , standard car in good working condition and they failed to deliver that. I ask you to kindly , reconsider your decision , it is clear to me that it is more than a battery problem and they just want me to sit with this problem and they are avoiding responding. Female Consumers have suffered enough abuse in the hands of some car dealerships . The Motor Insurance Onbudsman South Africa ruled in favour of the car dealership. None the less , the decision made by MIOSA did not take me by surprise .
