Never again!
I arranged in advance to book my car into a valet service with these people. On the day I brought it in and had to leave it there from 8am until 5pm. At 5pm the only people at the wash were the to workers washing my car and no management at all. I received my car what I thought was in good order with the seats somewhat wet which was understandable. I then left with the car and went to a nearby mall. At this point I got out of my car and realised that on the driver side side-mirror the paint had been excessively damaged. Now my car has a special kit on it which makes the paint here different to standard paint. It is clear to show how the pattern of damage would follow on from a water pressure hose placed almost directly onto the surface of the side-mirror. Further, the skirting on my car (less noticeably) showed similar damage along the entire length of the right hand side of the car. Clearly the workers saw the damage and decided to not repeat the same mistake on the other side. Now obviously no body would be at the car wash anymore so the next morning I took the car back to discuss the damage with the owner. He was rude and abrasive and somewhat aggressive. He gave contradictory statements saying that firstly I cannot prove the damage was caused by his car wash as I had driven away. Then he said that he can't be held responsible for the damage as he has a disclaimer on his wall. Then he said that it was not his fault that the paint had lifted - there must have been a chip on the side mirror and the rest of the paint lifted up as a result - which does not explain the skirting issue. Eventually he agreed to send me to his "personal buddy" and that he would assess the damage - call the owner with a quote - and then the owner would get back to me. So I agreed to this. I took ages to find this panelbeater and when I did it was in this run down factory parking area. There was no certification of proven ability to repair from any car company that I could see. The man assessed my car and just told me that the reason for the damage is because a primer wasn't used on the vehicle. He then said he would be in contact. No one ever contacted me and I never followed up because firstly - I felt intimidated by the manager of the car wash. Secondly because I was undergoing other major problems and commitments at the time. Thirdly because if I got my car repaired at this ******rtified panel beater - I would lose the warrantee on the paint of my car. After this incident I went to Audi and asked them about the primer situation. To which they rep**** - because it is a special kit - they use a built in primer into the paint. I was angry that the manager and his panel beater friend tried to make this my fault saying I damaged the car before hand and that the damage was caused by Germans manufacturing my incorrectly. I mean seriously? This incident has caused major stress in my life as I am still driving around with my damaged car as my parents bought it for me but I am the one expected to maintain it. I am a student therefore how am I supposed to afford the repairs? And I shouldn't have to repair damaged caused by negligent "trustworthy" car valets. I thought I was looking after my car after saving and paying R600 for a valet service only for it to be damaged by assholes who refuse to acknowledge their mistake. Never again. I will first buy all the equipment to do a valet before I take it anywhere ever again.
