****** AT ITS BEST On Monday 21 November 2022. Myself, my daughter and my son we accompanied my sister who visited us from the US. She was flying in the evening. Around 5pm we were at the airport accompanying her. As we entered the gates at Terminal A-International, we were stopped by an African/Black official by the name: Makhubela Mudawu not to enter the gate, only the passenger was allowed. We abided by the rules and stood aside, we let my sister enter the gate to check in. We waited outside the gate as instructed by Makhubela Mudawu. As we were standing there there was a flock of people entering the gate-white people accompanying their families. They were all allowed to enter the gate (passengers, the family/friends) they were not asked who was a passenger or who was not travelling. They were treated with respect. As we stood outside the gate, on the African soil, as South Africans who were described as Black, we felt humiliated, disrespected, discriminated, oppressed and sad. We were treated like alien's in our African soil by one of us, looking like us, black. We watched white people entering the gate without a word from Makhubela Mudau. We were the only family stopped to stand outside because we were black. I couldnt take it anymore, I went to approach Makhubela and asked him why he would not let us spend the last minute with our loved one-my sister. He told us we were not allowed. I asked why he allowed all white famalies to enter even when they were not passengers. He did not have an answer. We had a back an forth argument with Makhubela but no valid reason why we were discriminated. We escalated the matter to management-R Baloyi who exchanged her contact numbers. I am in tears, disbelief and exhausted! Fighting for rights all the time is draining, particularly when treated like an alien in your own country. I am taking this matter to the police. I will make sure that Makhubela Mudau learns a lesson and never treat people like aliens. He does not deserve his job. I am investigating this company.
