POOR SERVICE

This review is solely for the restaurants at the hotel. My date and I had arrived at the Motsweding restaurant within Mmabatho Palms around 19:30 on the 28th of November 2020 and we were not even given the menu or ushered to a table. We then decided to go to one of the open tables and had to clean and disinfect the table ourselves as it seemed to have been left in the condition it was in for a while. We asked one of the waiters to give us some information on how we can get service in the restaurant and she said she'd ask someone to attend to our table. At around 20:45 the waiter then came out and asked if we'd been attended and we said we hadn't, not even had the opportunity to order any drinks, and she shrugged and walked away. I happened to know one of the most hardworking individuals in the hotel, Mr Proctor, and asked him to at least give us a menu and call for assistance. I don't believe that he was stationed to be involved in the functioning of the restaurant but he went out of his way to accommodate us and gave us the menu (limited as it was) but unfortunately the waiter did not even come to our table as she was all over the restaurant. We then noticed a waiter who had been waiting to serve tables and called him to our table and asked if he could assist and he said that he was currently busy and cannot help. By 21:30, a fine gentleman who I had forgotten to ask for his name came to attend to us and gave us drinks and asked us to choose our orders, we received our food order at 22:00. He continuously came to ask if we were okay and that we needed any refills and made sure that our minds were at ease. The food was okay but the ribs were not cooked well. The restaurant is not a place for any fine dining as it was loud with people purchasing alcoholic beverages. When we had to pay the bill, the person who is supposed to be working at the bill counter was nowhere to be found and that meant that we couldn't tip the waiter as he required authorisation on the system from the person. We ended up leaving at 00:15 and had to withdraw money for his tip.
