Worst School in Lenasia South - Madiba Primary School

Thank the Lord my child is finishing with Madiba Primary School in Lenasia South. It is the worst school in the area. The school principal is extremely *********** in her position. My child was bul**** at the school for two years and I had to get the SAPS involved before I got help from the school. The principal denied that there was bullying going on at the school yet I personally complained to the school on numerous ocassions. She lies to the police and the district about the problems faced by children and parents that come to the school with complaints. She only wants learners with 70-100% pass rates at the schools - which she stated at a parents meeting in the first term of 2018. Each time my child complained about being bul**** or teachers that hit him for no reason, the teachers and principal get upset. The last instance was of two teachers slapping my child over him asking a reasonable and relevant question about covering textbooks before they are returned to the school. We covered the books when he received them from the school at the beginning of the school year. Some teachers collected textbooks before the exams. How do they expect the children to study? They accused my child of always being in trouble at school, yet I have never been informed of this at any point during the school year. When I go in to find out what had occurred, the teachers and secretary verbal ''attack'' my child. The school secretary is always in the parents personal business saying to me that my child will be a disappointment to me and that i must stop fighting for him. If I as his parent don't fight for him, who will? My child is no angel and I never side with him until I find out the facts from the school first. I can then see both sides of the situation before making a decision on which side of the fence to stand on. This school seems to be baised against Indian and Coloured children and parents. I would never recommend that parents enroll their children at this horrible school. The principal sent out letters to parents informing them the school will be closing at 08:30 on a Friday morning due to a SADTU meeting! This was the third time the school closed early in the same week for the same reason. How do they teach the children if they are closing early? To me it seems like the princicpal and secretary and some teachers are there just for the pay check and do minimal amount of actual work. The previous principal was a 1000 times more involved and better equipped to deal with problems and find solutions. At the last meeting with the principal and myself, the prinicpal stated that I am the only parent that comes to the school so often with issues. I asked her if my child was the only - as she called him - problem child at the school, she stated that there are other children as well, but I am the only parent that comes to the school. So being involved in my child's education and safety in the school environment is a problem for the school. To them a parent must just pay the fees and send their children to the school and what happens at school must not be told to parents unless the school feels it must be disclosed?! Madiba Primary School has lost the plot of why they are they and what they should be doing. Its clear that the S.M.T protects the teachers and the school and cares nothing for the learners they are being paid to educate. Some teachers including the principal can't event spell properly yet the Department of Education as employed them to educate your Youth. I have repeated asked the school to schedule a meeting with all the educators teaching my child for two years and only when the school found it necessary did they schedule a meeting. I ask the teachers at each parents meeting to please send me the lesson plans so that i can assist my child at home, they send nothing and then want to complain. They can complain when they see you at the school , but you as a parent cannot complain when you have taken time off from work to go to the school for a meeting?! Madiba Primary school S.M. T and principal need to be replaced and competent people put in place. The parent elect the School Governing Body (SGB) and not the School Management Team (SMT). People that are put in these positions should be able to handle children and parents as and when the need arises. Not tell them '' do what you want, i can't deal with you now. I have other duties to see to'' or '' make an appointment, when the teacher / principal is available, they will see to you'' - which by the way never happens. I left messages for teachers to try to make appointments and they have never responded, so no meetings were granted. if you send your child to this school, be prepared for your child to start crying in the morning, playing sick and hating school! My child is not the only child that has suffered at this ''school'' and wont be the last. I pray that people read this and make informed decisions about where to send their children.
