MacRobert Attorneys: Am I being bul****?

I've recently been bombarded with phone calls from MacRobert Attorneys claiming they're speaking on behalf of Absa on a personal loan that was offered to me 4 years ago.

Now as time went I couldn't afford the repayment and was put into a corner since I didn't know my rights and pretty much agreed to everything. Then the phone calls stopped. I decided to go into debt review and everything was going great until the whole Lockdown and Pandemic took place and turned everything upside down. I'm now close to getting back on my feet and then....MacRobert Attorneys call me. They tell me I owe a sum of R30,000. How is that possible when I haven't banked with Absa since 2017? So...I asked a very simple question....where is a statement that shows/proves I owe this certain amount that has somehow accumulated interest? I have to go to the bank branch to get a statement.

So let me get this right....you bought a bad debt...probably a write off debt without the necessary documents that need to be presented to the debtor should the time arise? And now I'm told that legal proceedings will take place and will have a summons(maybe) and I love the way the agent is soooooo desperately insisting I either pay the R30,000 or a monthly payment of R1,300.

Do you realise that I never agreed to anything and yet I'm being thrown into a corner? I'm being intimidated here because my agreement is that agent's commission pay. Well....I will not go to a bank I chose not to bank with anymore for a statement. Something you,MacRobert Attorneys should've sorted out...not me.

Oh and I checked my credit score....there's no loan of R30,000 from Absa. Meaning my personal loan is a write off. Now then...should you continue to harass me; I will report you to the Debt Council for harassment.

And last I checked you can't take someone to court who can't afford a lawyer. Also 3 years have passed....for a law firm you didn't do your research...that is if you really are a law firm.
