Ishmael demanding payment
I have a vehicle finance with standard bank and was retrenched at work in year 2019,my account resulted in arrears and was handed over to McRoberts attorneys. I have been in discussion with Mr Sibusiso Shwala from Standard bank telephonically and on email and was advised I would receive a revised payment plan as I recently started working. On the 31st of March I was able to make a payment of R3400. 00 due to pandemic Covid-19 resulting to a national lockdown. Unfortunately my work has been affected by it. To my surprise I have received a call from Mr Ishmael requesting I settle the account and no agreement was in place. I then advised that he should please refer to Mr Sibusiso Shwala and Ronnie from Standard bank as there is evidence of this on email communication. I have further advised Mr Ishmael that I am currently at home as he is aware that it's national lockdown and will make payments once lockdown has been lifted, I am not sure how much i will afford to pay depending on which date I go back to work. Mr Ishmael has insisted that I make payment arrangements. I find this very insensitive and according to the law is not allowed. It was said that there was a discussion in place with all the major banks as we have been affected by this. How is my case different?? Ishmael has pressurized me to set a date for payment in full. I have advised I will further take my case to Standard Bank as I do not agree with such treatment.
