For precaution, We app**** jointly to rent a complex at Miekies (you know, to eliminate any excuses of affordability). To my surprise our applications were denied. Despite the fact that we app**** jointly, our payslips and bank statements were scrutinized separately for the same place....interesting.

I'll separately inform you of the "reasoning" we each received. .....I hope you have your cup of tea ready.

* My partner's payslip/ bank statement "reasoning": Excuse no.1 by Koos from Macprop who approves /disapproves the process:

The gradual deductions made after you receive your Nett Salary disqualifies you. Question: So , what they are saying is that they do not take into consideration the Nett Salary but the monthly spending as well? The current rental payments done by my partner was not taken into consideration as well. So you must somehow make sure when the month comes to an end, you still have sufficient reserves that reflects 3x the rent amount you will be applying for.

And its Law....apparently.

That's R 25,200 reserved at the end of each month to qualify..... Koos, If I had that kind of money at the end of the month for "just in case I rent a place through Macprop", I wouldn't be renting.

Oh but it gets even more ridiculous.

So my bank statement and payslip has been declined based on the fact that my salary does not reflect rental payments...despite how much I am earning. Meaning that the only way I can qualify is if I was renting previously... I can't ladies and gentlemen....I can't.

Hilarious right? Koos should be a comedian. Racial profiling clearly still exists, explains why Miekes isn't exactly "colorful".

Bottom line, if you are black like us, be prepared to be put through a long,ridiculous ,creative reasoning process that only makes sense to Koos, the guy who approves/declines your application.

Oh by the way, this is telephonically expressed, so you can forget receiving an email with that junk...would only worsen Macprop's image.
