WORST EVER CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND *******

First night of lock down shop 2 at my building at Kempton Park was burgled. Burglar bars, two safety doors and two aluminium doors (frames and glass) were and damaged.

I requested a quote from Mr Mac (Gerald Eugene) Naude. Macnad Steel & Construction CC ***. The specs and or what was required for the steel and aluminium work was given in no uncertain terms. A 60% deposit of quote value was required.

The business Macnad “Steel & Construction” does not indicate glass and aluminium. I was however assured that he manufactures aluminium door frames (this was a blatant lie as I discovered later on).

Decision to trust and use Mr Naude was a huge mistake and something I will regret. This is why.

Deposit was paid on 6 May. 8 May I followed up on progress. This time his attitude was very different to what it was during the quote process. His tone of voice was if annoyed and he responded in an aggressive way. He said that he will do the job next week being week of 11 May. As if indicating that he will do according to his terms.

On 12 May burglar bars and security doors were fitted. The specs and requirements were blatantly ignored. The bars and safety doors were not nearly as requested. I objected profusely but he had lots of explanations why the bars and security doors as fitted was best for my purpose. I realised that I was not getting anywhere and he was not going to redo. As it was a matter of urgency and to prevent losses I had to compromise. We agreed on modifications for which R 1,500.00 was added to the cost.

About the aluminium doors and glass he told me that he is experiencing difficulty to find someone to manufacture the frames. I asked about the fact that he indicated that he was manufacturing aluminium frames himself. His explained that the market is overstocked and not profitable any longer. I left it at that assuming that the doors would be delivered soon.

15 May I was told that cost for manufacturing the frames by aluminium supplier was such that he would not be able to make any profit. He was going to clean, hang frames and arrange for glass to be fitted.

Again it was clear that he was not going to supply new frames so I had to do another compromise as I wanted to rid myself of this situation as soon as possible. I agreed that the doors be cleaned and hanged. He pushed for ridiculous price of R 2,500.00. I objected and finally we agreed on R 1,250.00. He promised to deliver and hang the same day. At around 1800 he dropped the doors and left without hanging. When asked about this Naude had another story. No use in hanging as doors will have to be removed again for the glass to be fitted. He explained that glass slides in from the bottom. Another lie. I pointed out that this was not the agreement and that he had to hang the doors. He objected and indicated that this would incur more cost for him. He resides in Pretoria and will have to travel just for that. Eventually he agreed very aggressively. When asked when - his reply via wapp - whenever he goes back to work again. I told him to fly.

The after math - I requested an invoice for work done – to no avail. - I asked how he came to R 2,500.00 for hanging of doors - no response. - No address for the CC appears on the quotation. - It would appear that the CC is not in business and deregistered. - Even one star rating is too high - We do not need this in business
