Khaya Ingwe Lodge is dodge
We booked at the lodge called Khaya Ingwe directly with Lynette in Feb 2019. Paid the 50% deposit for 3 nights for a family of 14. Planned well in advance. Only to be told 2 days before the trip that the accommodation has electricity issues and won’t be fixed on time. We were left in the lurch and then a day before our planned t*******ered accommodation that didn’t even have a website. Very hard to rebook for such numbers at such a late time so our annual family getaway was ruined. No interest was offered for the deposit that was kept for all the months. In fact we had to chase the refund. A goodwill gesture of one nights free accommodation was offered but again felt almost like we had to chase Lynette to confirm available dates to take up this offer. I question whether this was heresay or truly goodwill. We chose to take up a stay for two nights in September and mentioned this well in advance - one free , one we would pay for. Only again to be dropped at the last moment to be told unless we pay for two nights there won’t be a free night option. This was never previously communicated at all. The dates we chose are not school holidays and we can’t stay 3 nights. Extremely poor service, poor response to messages, doesn’t answer calls, and complete lack of regard for people who plan holidays in advance orthe concept of customer service. On a booking website it appeared as though the property had an overlapping booking for our original dates. But only the booking team can confirm this I.e a true electrical fault or a double booing ghat resulted in our booking being cancelled so last minute- only when I enquired about arrival details for our trip!
Be careful when dealing with this property. Very disappointing for the family and kids who were super excited about bonding in this reserve we had heard is a lovely spot to holiday at.
Sadly only after my experience have I seen similar review on various booking sites about the same experience.
