Disappointing service

As the December heat is reaching its peaks we decided to have our aircon checked since it was acting up, intermittently cooling.On Thursday 18 Dec 2025 around 8h30, upon recommendation, we took our vehicle to M-Max specialist in BMW spares and repairs in GP next to Chikro. Eddie came across friendly and helpful promising to get the issue on our vehicle aircon sorted soonest. Few hours later Eddie telephonically informs that when he started the vehicle the battery light stayed on and there was a noise on the pulley of the alternator (issues that was not there when dropping off the vehicle) He confidently said that it must be due to a faulty alternator as he ran tests and had the aircon regassed.He suggested the alternator be checked as it wasn't giving enough current to allow the aircon to work effectively.Since the vehicle was with him we trusted that his auto electrician would be good sense. After several hours he let us know that they found the issue on the alternator and that they would be fixing it.The vehicle would have to stay overnight for testing in the morning. Next morning he relayed that he wasn't happy and would be sending it back to his auto......hours later we received an invoice and Eddie's clerk calls explaining the almost R7000.00 cost which comes with a 12 month gaurentee. The next call from Eddie was to inform that the aircon was now fixed and the vehicle could be collected.We made payment taking Eddie's word as he seemed to be a man of integrity. That same evening when driving to town we discovered that the aircon was still intermittent and now the vehicle had a bit of a misfire when picking up speed and uphills. On Sunday we had the discomfort of driving to Stellenbosch in 37 degrees still with intermittent aircon.Monday morning the vehicle was returned to M-Max but after Eddie being confident that it was the alternator issue and the labour of removing and fitting it again amounted to R2000.00, Eddie this time around said that he thinks it could be the aircon compressor. Clearly his diagnosis first time around was wrong and this to the expense of almost R7k for a supposedly fixed aircon.Needless to say it caused major frustration since why was this not initially checked. Long story short we are minus nearly R7000.00 aircon is still not working, plus the gift of the misfire none of which Eddie is taking responsibility for.
