Keyless rooms offer zero security & Staff Attitude
We attended a wedding at Lythwood (4 Stars), for 19 and 20 Feb 2016. The reception wanted to firstly allocate us a room with no key, and then after insisting on a key, wished to give us a master key, which was refused by us. They would not move us despite extra capacity for that night as per the bride's instructions. No manager was available, and after going out and returning later, we were eventually given the adjacent room with a key, 4 hours after arrival and much unpleasant debate. I requested that they adjust the bill accordingly at time of check-out.
Despite there being a great variation in the quality of accommodation, all rooms were charged at the same rate, and our room was opposite an unsightly cattle kraal and borehole with associated pipes.
The access to the room was via unpaved wet and seriously muddy paths, which were to be the route for the female guests to walk with high heeled shoes.
The water pressure was inadequate in the shower making it difficult to stabilise for comfort, and the water smelt foul. It had a very pungent smell of standing water.
At the time of checking out a very defiant manager with attitude advised us to complain to the bride about the bill.
