Lufthansa - INCOMPETANCY!!!

My husband and I have recently relocated from South Africa to Bahrain. What a DRAMATIC exit....bare with me...!

We were meant to fly with Lufthansa as our dog was flying cargo with them. We had initially paid for additional luggage with Lufthansa (2 purchases online & 2 purchases through the call centre) amounting to 430 BHD / $1142.16 / R21547.84 - just to put things into context.

Unfortunately there was a huge strike in Germany and only cargo flights were permitted, therefore resulting in Lufthansa having to rebook our flights with Emirates as well as Gulf Air. oN receiving this news I contacted Lufthansa the morning of our flight to confirm that our luggage had been transferred over to the relevant airlines as well as was assured that all was in order.

On check-in at Cape Town International Airport, Lufthansa had NOT transferred the luggage that was paid for and so requested to speak with management, only having wait an entire hour for management to inform me that he couldn't assist us in anyway and to make a claim online.

So we proceeded to check in at Emirates desks - HAD TO PAY AGAIN for our luggage amounting to R14960.00 / 298.63 BHD / $792.39 and was assured it was going to be checked all the way through to Bahrain.

We land in Dubai to board our connection flight with Gulf Air for the final leg of our journey to Bahrain. On check-in Gulf Air says we need to pay for our additional luggage AGAIN as they cant seem to find it on their system. This is after showing them our receipt with Emirates where it clearly states all luggage to be sent through to Bahrain.

I need to bring to light that we are fortunate enough to have been able to pay for our luggage 3X over.

We were not permitted to board our flight if we didn't pay for our additional luggage again with Gulf Air, so we did. This time amounting to AED1760 / 180.62 BHD / $479.27 / R9046.75.

We have since made numerous phone calls to the call centre only to be told to fill in forms and then receive a response that the agent who rebook the flight could only submit this claim. We are trying to make claims from Emirates Airline as well as Gulf Air, only to realise a finger pointing game is at large here.

We have exhausted all means of trying to go through the correct channels to get some sort of refund which we feel we are entitled to. As there clearly seems to be a disconnect between the relevant airlines at play here.

This very same complain will be posted for Emirates Airline as well as Gulf Air as we are going in circles with no luck. HOPING that through this platform someone can provide us with answers and deal with our matter seriously.

Total amount spent on our luggage to be transported from South Africa to Bahrain: R45554.59 / $2411.38 / 908.63 BHD / 8856.13 AED DAY-LIGHT *******!!

Airlines - please explain this to me!!!
