One man ruins the entire company… a crazy experience
Wow, where do I even start? This has been the most intense and chaotic experience I’ve ever had with a business. It all began with Gary “love bombing” me late at night via WhatsApp with tile images after a simple enquiry on their website. His communication was unprofessional, desperate, and unhinged. Despite that, I must say his tiles are stunning. Things took an unexpected and scary turn when I requested a transport quote, which I found too expensive. I decided to organise my own transport, but later changed my mind due to building site chaos and concerns about weight limits. I asked him to resend the quote, which had suddenly doubled from R5000 to R10,000 in just a few weeks. I declined again and asked for courier details to find alternatives. When I contacted the same courier Gary used, he exploded, accusing me of “going behind his back.” I was genuinely confused—he seemed to be making up prices and possibly pocketing extra money. His reaction was wild, shouting and acting paranoid. The courier then refused to deal with me further, citing a “deal” with Gary. I apologized and promised not to contact them again, but Gary’s attitude turned downright rude, childish, and aggressive. He ghosted me—refusing calls and WhatsApp messages. My husband had to step in, calling from his number to get him to answer, which confirmed he was intentionally ignoring me despite full payment for the tiles. When my employees picked up the tiles, Gary was incredibly rude, withholding grout and sealant I had paid for. Despite multiple requests, he didn’t ever refund me or deliver the remaining goods. He kept promising to refund me but always had an excuse why he didn’t do it that day/week, so I eventually gave up and never heard from him again. As a woman, I suspect this is how he treats clients in general. His energy was so intense and aggressive that I was too scared to go in myself, so I sent my strong colleagues to fetch the tiles. I warned them not to argue with him, fearing escalation or violence. This entire ordeal had left me shaken. I was 7 hours away, which made transport issues unavoidable, but his behaviour was utterly unacceptable—paranoid, rude, and threatening. This review isn’t about the actual roles. They do phenomenal work and the times were beautiful! It’s unfortunate that 1 person (the only person you can deal with ruins it because I would love to order more tiles but would never deal with Gary ever again!) I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. My one thought is that he was going through something and projecting it into his clients. I can’t find this company on Facebook so I can’t find any other reviews but hopefully things have changed by now. (My interaction with him was from 2023 fyi)
