Account Handed Over Without Investigation
My Mother was admitted to High Care last year October 2024, she received an account from Ack & Associates in February 2025 where she was made aware for the 1st time that she has been handed over for the amount of R811.00 and already interest was added where by the amount was R1336.17. She advised them that she will send the account to the medical aid to revise as she was in hospital. She stipulated to please just wait until she has hear from the medical aid. She was in contact with Miny, Louw and Wilson but obviously nothing happened.
After we had many conversations with the medical aid, it was brought to our attention that the codes that was submitted to the medical aid was not updated as an PMB. So this is in actual fact the physiothe****** company that made a mistake and not the medical aid nor the patient. But the patient is being held liable whether they can afford it or not.
The medical aid has now assisted us, whereby it was not their job but assisted as I have mentioned my Mom's financial situation. They will be paying the account, but we are liable for the interest that was charged. That is really unfair taken in consideration that my Mom was in contact with the creditor and that they were aware that the medical aid is working on it. The interest now charged is more than the actual account. I have asked for a discount and it was declined.
If the client tells you that they busy with the medical aid why do you just hand them over.
I am really disappointed on how companies sees everything as an opportunity to make money instead of trying to assist and find out what the problem is. If Louw Miny & Wilson took the time and contacted the medical aid they would have been paid as they just had to update the code. As simple as that.
