Severely defective work Lorinda van Niekerk Smit My Room Interior Design – proceed with extreme caution

My experience with Lorinda van Niekerk Smit- My Room Interior Architecture/Design has been extremely serious and costly. This was not a single issue. Across my project, the work she carried out, including waterproofing, tiling, and grouting, was defective and has had to be redone. The waterproofing in particular was critical. I paid R51,000 for this work. On independent professional inspection, it was found that the waterproofing membrane had simply been glued down and tiled over with no proper application, no adequate preparation, and no effective waterproofing protection whatsoever. The entire system now needs to be stripped out and redone at significant additional cost. Despite clear assurances of expertise, the result was significant failure and further damage. When I raised these issues and requested a refund, I received no response. I was also asked for a R50,000 personal loan during the project, which I consider entirely inappropriate in a professional context. After speaking to others, it appears this is not an isolated case. Proceed with extreme caution.
