Lonja Beauty Salon
Based on recent customer reviews, Lonja Beauty Salon is valued mainly for its affordable pricing and specials, but that value is undermined by serious service delivery problems. Customers across the Randburg and Fourways branches report bookings that mean nothing, waits stretching from two to five hours, and being turned away near closing time. Complaints also cover rough treatment, nails and lashes lifting within days, rigid seven day fix policies, and staff discussing clients in front of them. A minority praise cleanliness, hospitality and specific nail technicians for genuinely beautiful work.

I’ve been to this salon several times. Their prices are affordable, so when I’ve wanted to save a little money, I’ve gone back. Unfortunately, the experience has consistently been putrid. Making an appointment seems almost pointless because the average wait can be around two hours. On one occasion last week, I was told the wait would be five hours. Five hours for a nail salon? There are also practices that concern me. Instead of properly soaking product off, my nails have been filed down, yet I’ve still been charged for a “soak off”. I have personally not seen equipment being sanitised before use. I’ve experienced nails lifting, and products being used in ways that do not seem appropriate for the service being performed. The customer service and professionalism are another issue entirely. Staff openly speak about customers amongst themselves, sometimes in another language, directly in front of them. I even became aware of the term “Happy Birthday customer” apparently being used amongst staff to refer to a difficult or fussy customer. Whether customers understand the language being spoken or not, discussing them in front of them is incredibly unprofessional and creates an uncomfortable environment. But today was the final straw. I arrived at approximately 16:40 for a simple Gelish manicure and pedicure. The salon trades until 18:00, yet I was initially turned away. I then phoned the number linked to the Instagram page, and the lady I spoke to was wonderfully kind and tried to assist. I eventually had my toes done. By approximately 17:55, after I had already been there for over an hour, I was asked what I still needed. I explained that I only needed simple Gelish on my nails. I was then asked whether I could come back tomorrow. I explained that I couldn’t. I work during the week and had specifically come during the salon’s advertised operating hours. What made this even more frustrating was seeing staff sitting outside while customers were waiting. If certain employees cannot perform particular services, why are staff not being cross-skilled so that the salon can better manage demand? Because only my toes were completed, I was charged the full standalone price instead of being accommodated on the special I originally came for. I even offered to return the following weekend and pay for the entire special, but was told it would only remain valid for three days after purchase. So after sitting there for approximately an hour and a half, I walked out having managed to get nothing more than Gelish on my toes. What is most disappointing is that I have actually continued supporting this business because I believe the concept has potential. The pricing is competitive and the business model could be great. But affordable prices do not mean customers should accept poor service, excessive waiting times, questionable hygiene practices, unprofessional conversations about customers and absolutely no attempt at service recovery when the salon itself cannot accommodate a client. Where is the customer care? Where is the management? Where is the accountability? You have customers who continue coming back despite bad experiences because they genuinely hope you will improve. Instead of taking those customers for granted, listen to them. You have a potentially great business model, but the way this salon is currently being managed is ruining it. Wake up. Fix the service. Train your staff. Manage your queues properly. Respect your customers. Cheap does not have to mean poor.

They should just close that joke of a salon in Randburg Square. The service is pathetic and it keeps getting worse everytime I go there. Those people working there are running that place to the ground. The people working there just don’t care about the customers. The nail techs even go to the extent of gossiping about customers right in front of other customers. They will make you wait for 5 hours and then send you back because “they won’t have time to do your nails” and they do that while showing zero empathy for you as a customer. At the rate they’re going, I don’t see that business surviving for long. I’m disgusted by how they treat customers as if they’re doing us a favour.

Oh, my goodness where do I even start, I always visit Lonja Beauty Salon in Fourways for my nails and sometimes for my hair. So, I will start by how CLEAN the beauty studio/salon is, that I would give it 100/10. And then followed up great hospitality, amazing amazing amazing. And then top tier would be the professional work, listen everyone there knows what they are doing, they put their heart to it. I literally drive over 40KM every single month to get my nails done at Lonja Beauty Studio, that's how great they are okay :)

DO NOT GO THERE! I wish it was possible to give them no stars at all. I made an appointment the day before ,for 3pm 02/04/2026 to do acrylic hands and gel toes . I arrived on time. I was told to sit.No communication at all. 30 minutes later of me not being attended to . I have to get up and ask what’s going on. I made an appointment why am I waiting. The lady with glasses at the reception desk proceeded to tell me that all the people waiting made appointments. So I asked again what is the point of allowing me to make an appointment if I am treated as a walk in and I still have to wait. At this establishment, making an appointment is just to “reserve your space in the queue”. Was her answer. Mind you there were over 5 people when I arrived waiting Doing your maintenance is supposed to be a calming and pleasant experience. Do not go to lonja you will definitely not receive that at all. Don’t book an appointment, there’s no point. Their specials may save you money , however you will pay with your time and comfort. This is the third time this has happened to me at this branch. I will not be going there ever again. I made an appointment BECAUSE I CLEARLY NEEDED THEM DONE AT THE TIME. They have absolutely ruined my day. What a horrible experience. I immediately left after waiting nearly 45 minutes after the time of my appointment. The quality of work they provide is really not worth your time anyway. Extremely dissapointing. You would think after so many bad reviews they’d fix their ways. TRULY THE WORST SALON IVE EVER BEEN Too in my life.

My experience at Lonja Beauty Salon in Fourways has been horrible, the staff are highly unprofessional. I booked over the phone only to arrive to a long line even after I had asked if there were slots available for today. The staff speak badly about the customers in their presence. It almost feels as though you are in their mercy to do your hair with them , very very unprofessional team.
