Removal nightmare

Andre and his quick response, with quotation and my queries, gave us the reason to choose Logtec for our relocation. The nightmare started when Denise, who took over from Lindy, informing us that the transport was delayed by two days, due to the weather. Our moved was originally scheduled for the 23rd of Feb. Denise agreed that it would a big move and that our belongings would be solely transported, as requested. The next day, at 12 pm, she phoned me again to say that they can start packing at 8 am, the following day and confirmed that it was a big load.

On arrival the truck was already loaded halfway with furniture, with four packers. I discussed the matter with Gavin stating that our belongings are too much to be moved with the existing load already in the truck. Gavin phoned Eben. Eben requested to speak to me, he was very rude at that stage. I stood firmly by my point to be moved alone. Eben instructed Gavin to take the existing load to our neighbour town, approximately 60 kilometers away, to offload the load to a storage facility. The truck arrived back at 14:30. They started packing at 15:00 and Gavin got two casual workers, from the street with no packing experience, to assist. At 20:00 Gavin suggested to stop until the next morning as it was becoming too dark. Eben agreed to pay for our accomodation at a guesthouse for that night.

They started about 7:30 Saturday morning and was finished by 12:30. At that point it started raining heavily. 8:30 Sunday morning I phoned Gavin to inquire what time they will arrive, whereby he informed me that he was on his way back home and gave me Koos's number, as he was now the designated driver taking over from Gavin. Now there was only three packers left. On arrival at 9:00, they already subcontracted three casual workers, without experience, as Gavin suggested. Eben was argueing with Koos telephonically stating that they were lying to him as he was refusing to pay for the casuals. Everything stopped for about an hour to resolve this issue and I had to send Eben photo's of Koos' bank card so that payments could be made to the casuals, as Eben actually wanted his staff to pay the casuals with their own money.

It wasn't raining while the furniture was being offloaded and at some stage I noticed that our furniture was wet on top and underneath the bubble wrap. After investigation we noticed that the trailor's roof was leaking and was attemptedly sealed with foam. According to the packers, Eben was well aware that the trailor's roof was leaking. I took photo's of the inside of the trailor's roof, water damaged furniture and wet boxes. While offloading, a glass table top was broken in half and a solid wood wardrobe's footpiece was broken. The three employed packers did their best under straining and difficult circumstances. I take my hat off to them as they were already in their second week away from home as planned, but with loads being loaded and offloaded unscheduled in between would make it three weeks.

According to a packer, it was Eben's modus operandi to push loads in between scheduled loads and that is why our load was a day late.

First thing Monday morning, I phoned Eben, to inform him about my belongings being damaged. He did not answer his phone. I then phoned Andre, with no success. I then got hold of Lindy, who originally organised the move. I explained the whole situation to her, asking her to get Eben to phone me back. Later that day, I eventually got hold of Eben and he stated that he was busy with a client and will get back to me. I never heard from him again. I sent an e-mail to Eben, Andre and the operations department complaining and requesting an assessor to assess our damages. A month later there has been no response from neither Eben nor any other employee.

I hereby want to warn people from utilising this company, as it is an awful, stressful experience with no support from the owner. He just wants his money and does not care about his service or intregrity.

Logtec Furniture Removal update
After my complaint lodged with Hello Peter, Logtec/Eben rep**** that they will investigate the matter. Eben Saunderson phoned me within three hours after his reply, after weeks of silence.
Firstly he insulted me and then he told me I messed with the wrong man and then he threatened me with his lawyer. This lawyer threads is custom to Eben, with unsatisfied clients who he and/or Logtec blatantly cheats before, during and after transit.
In Eben's reply on Hello Peter, he blamed the rain for our furniture damage, although it did not rain while the furniture was being loaded and offloaded. He knows very well that the damage occurred while the furniture was inside the trailer due to a damaged and leaking roof. With reference to my original complaint, the workers confirmed that Eben knew about the roof and I took photos as proof.
In Eben's telephonic conversation, he kept on instructing me to read the contract's fine print. When I refer to the contract's insurance clause, he again told me to read the fine print, thus eluding the question.
It has been seven weeks since the complaint lodged, feedback and Eben's telephonic insults, still no communication or arrangements for compensation of reparation of my damaged furniture. I think he thinks he discouraged me with his threats.
Until a positive outcome, I will continue to inform and warn the public against Eben and Logtec Furniture Removals.
