Poor experience end-to-end
We selected Lofts & Ladders to put in a loft room based on their size and reputation, however right from the start we have been disappointed.<br> The quote included \matching an existing dorma window""; and again; only when the engineer came in; did they admit the problem - having to replace them all. More delays.<br> <br> The final product looks quite good inside; but I am unhappy with the external look of the dorma; and the noise/feel of the floor they put in.<br> <br> Now that the rain has started; it is apparent that the new dorma is VERY noisy due to the flashing they used. I have asked them to either replace the flashing or install the gutter; as the noise is unacceptably loud;however the only reponse I got is that \""I should get a handyman to install a gutter myself\"".<br> <br> Apparently their guarantee counts for nothing."""
RichLange is correct, we did make a mistake.
We cut out a 2.5m opening in his existing roof to build in the new Dorma window, there was an unexpected deflection of approximately 20mm, (half the thickness of a paperback novel).
Within 15 mins of a meeting we had agreed on a solution, it was implemented the same day
Richlange is incorrect in is comment re the floor joists, they were has specified by the engineer and built in right from the start? There would be no point in using smaller joists than specified, the engineer would certainly pick it up and refuse to issue the final certificate.
The mandate was to match the clients existing Dorma window about 1000mm away from the proposed The existing window did not have gutters or downpipes so when Richlange asked us to supply them a year after completion, we were obliged to do both old and new Dormer's. The windows are more than 6m from the ground on a slopping roof, Health & safety regulation insist we build scaffold, this involved us in more costs than we felt were reasonable. Our suggestion of a local handyman who was not subject to the same regulations as us, was to save Richlange costs.
