WARNING!!! Beware of a company called Loan Scout SA (Pty) Ltd

Hello Peter,

Upon seeing a Loan Scout SA (Pty) Ltd adverti*****t of a short-term personal loan on the Internet in November 2015, I submitted an on-line application. I did not receive feedback on the outcome of the application or the money I needed. My assumption was that the application was unsuccessful. However, they debited about R500.00 in November 2015. I telephonically enquired why that amount was debited as I did not receive communication on the outcome of the application or the money I needed to loan. The reply was that I was under debt review (National Credit Act No. 34 of 2005 prohibits financial service providers to lend money to people who are over-indebted or need debt rehabilitation). I then requested that (1) my profile / account be deactivated. I did not receive confirmation that this was done, But, I was no longer able to log onto my profile; and (2) the future debit orders be stopped. I was advised to request my bank to effect the stoppage because Loan Scout SA (Pty) Ltd could not do so itself. My bank stopped the debit order.

On 22 August 2016, I rep**** to a mail containing the so-called “electronic service pack” and requested that they remove my name from their mailing list as my inbox gets flooded with e-mails I do not know. Their reply on 23 August 2016 was that I must settle the balance of R782.00 before the end of September 2016. Their statement also shows that they have been quietly debiting R99.00 on my bank account (about R1,600.00 since January 2016). I was unaware because banks send mobile notifications for transactions above R100.00.

They maintain that I am liable for the R782.00 balance because it is only now that I am cancelling (outside the 7 days cooling-off period). Seemingly, the efforts I did in November 2015 and their own promises at the time are now not being taken into account. In all fairness, it is not my fault that someone did not do his or her job when I contacted them in November 2015.

A quick visit of their website shows a service package of advices on litigation, motor vehicle accident injury, conveyance and personal injury. Let alone the fact that I have all these free benefits where I am working, these services were not on the adverti*****t for a short-term personal loan at the time.

Please, intervene and assist me further.

To all the people out there,

Regardless of your personal problems and frustrations, please be aware of the businesses promising what they cannot deliver because, at the end of the day, you may see yourself in a big trouble of being liable for what was not the reason why you entered into an agreement. Be wise and don’t be a victim of being attracted for what is not there. Rather seek help from well-known and reputable companies.

Sincerely,

Tely
