Don't touch Lisabank when thinking of purchasing a used car. I was interested in a vehicle at the Kempton Park branch, and the salesman told me to put down a deposit of R2000 to secure the vehicle for a period of 3 days. He committed in writing that if I no longer want the vehicle, the deposit would be refunded in 48 hours, and an admin fee of R300 would be charged, so that the refunded amount amount would be R1700. I have written proof of this. The refund was not done within 48 hours. I had to fight tooth and nail and eventually they only refunded a fraction of the amount promised. When I queried this they claimed that head office had hiked the admin fee and the salesman in question was not aware thereof. As I say I have it in writing, so this is a breach of contract. I as the customer should not be prejudiced because of an internal miscommunication between the sales and finance people. I will fight this on principle and have already reported this to the motor industry ombudsman. This is just another underhand tactic of these car dealers to de***** the innocent public of their hard earned cash. I see on HelloPeter that I am not the only one complaining of not receiving the deposit back. Be very, very careful.
