Extremely disappointed after almost 10 years as a Law for All policyholder
I have been a Law for All/LIPCO policyholder for almost 10 years, and I am extremely disappointed with how my wife's current legal matter has been handled. My understanding from the policy is that the main member, spouse and children are covered. My wife is currently facing an interim Domestic Violence Protection Order, which she disputes. This is a serious matter with significant consequences for her. However, when we requested assistance, we were advised that only I, as the main member, am covered for this type of matter and that my wife is not entitled to legal representation under the policy. Instead, Law for All asked whether they should refer my wife's matter to one of their panel attorneys at our own cost. We agreed because we felt we had no other choice. I appreciate that Law for All made the referral and negotiated a reduced arrangement, but this does not address my underlying concern. I have been paying for this legal protection for almost 10 years, and when my family genuinely needs legal assistance, I repeatedly seem to encounter an exclusion, limitation or reason why the matter cannot be covered directly. It makes me question the practical value of having this legal insurance for my family. My concern is not simply about having to pay for one particular matter. It is about the difference between the impression created by having the spouse and children included under the policy and what actually happens when a spouse needs legal assistance. Why are members referred to panel attorneys at their own cost when they have been paying premiums for legal protection? What meaningful legal benefit do my immediate family members receive if the legal fees ultimately remain our responsibility? I have remained a loyal customer for nearly 10 years, but experiences like this make me seriously question whether continuing with Law for All provides sufficient value and protection for my family. Please explain why my immediate family members, who are apparently included under the policy, are not actually provided with legal representation when they genuinely need it. I would appreciate a clear and transparent explanation of what legal protection my policy actually provides to my spouse and children when they need legal assistance.
