MISLEADING MARKETING
POST 1 around 13h45 2017/11/13 I went on a free trial with Sales Navigator and received a null invoice. My account was debited with ZAR R 992.00 despite receiving a null invoice and being told that the trial run was free. To my amazement my account was debited and only much later I read a disclaimer that the free trial only applies to non-subscribers (I had just got onto linked in Premium earlier as a trial run) and also that free trial was not more than once every 365 days. This disclaimer should be in bold prior to registering for a free trial. In any event the disclaimer is in contravention of the Regulations of the South African Consumer Protection Act No 68 of 2008 as it needs to be prominently displayed. I have requested several times for a refund of my money with no response. Furthermore, when I tried to cancel this subscription Linked in wants to cancel my Premium account which I do not want to happen. There is no provision to cancel Sales Navigator or at least I can’t find it. I still wish to use Premium as it will be useful. Can anyone help and please customers be warned. POST 2 2017/11/13 around 16H26 Only after my bank account was debited did I then realise that as I was on Premium I could not get a free trial. After registering with Premium I went on a free trial with Sales Navigator. My account was debited with ZAR R 992.00 despite my being under the impression that it was also a free trial which it says as you log in. On further investigating (which took over an hour) I read a disclaimer that the free trial only applies to non-subscribers. I have only now discovered this link. https://www.linkedin.com/sales/settings?trk=sn_nav2__util_nav_update_settings The reason why I wanted the free trial period was to ascertain if it was a good tool to use. If so I would have continued with the subscription but not without a free trial period. I still wish to use Premium as it will be useful. Please cancel my Sales Navigator. Will not let me click box marked other.
Post 3 2017/11/14 @ 13H00 Subsequent to the above two posts I addressed the following to ********** RE SALES NAVIGATOR I attach hereto:- 1 Email addressed to me at ********** on 2017/11/13 @ 22H11 2 My comments posted on LinkedIn @ 13h41 and 16h25 yesterday. 3 Response from Linked In at 16h23 (GMT + 2) noting my unsubscribing and indicating that I would not be refunded.
It is quite obvious that your various departments do not communicate with each other. Please however phone me to discuss the refund. Until such time as I hear from you I am posting my remarks on Facebook, Twitter and Hello Peter.
Whilst I still may wish to use Sales Navigator the misleading advertising is in contravention of the South African Consumer Protection Act. In addition the disclaimer only comes up once you have entered your Card details and the amount payable is deducted from your Bank Account. An institution as reputable as LinkedIn should not have to resort to such tactics
