Not a great first day

So I flew with lift on their first day of flying, I believe I was on the second flight ever, from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

To start off, my flight was scheduled for 11am. At 11:45pm the previous night I received a email from them, informing me that the flight had been moved to 9:50am. This wasn’t a big problem as luckily I was awake to see it and could plan ahead, but for someone driving from a bit further away, who may have only seen it the next morning, this could be a big issue.

Apon arriving at the baggage check in, I noticed that the flight had then been delayed to 10:30. I booked my flight over Travelstart, as I always do, no matter which airline I choose to fly with, and according to their website I was allowed 7kg hand luggage and 23kg checked in luggage.

When I checked in they told me I did not select to book in luggage, but after showing them my email from travel start they let me check in my luggage without any issues, but I did speak to another passenger who also booked through Travelstart and then had to pay R250 to check her luggage in, I don’t know if she ever phoned them for a refund.

After waiting to board the plane we finally took off at 10:50, almost the original time that was listed. The seating was fine, standard to what I would expect from a domestic flight.

Every passenger received a “free” coffee or juice, which was nice for me, because I never buy anything on the flight due to high prices, but they didn’t have anything else to buy, which I could imagine would upset someone who would like to do so.

The flight itself wasn’t long and we landed within the expected time frame. All the way staff would constantly apologise for the change in flights, saying it was their first day and they’re still finding their feet.

In my opinion first impressions are everything and with a fleet of only 3 planes, they couldn’t possibly have there hands that full.

I wrote this review purely to give feedback of my experience with them, as they are a new airline.

In conclusion, of you don’t mind being moved around a bit and not having the option to buy any inflight snacks, then the slightly cheaper price might justify this dor you, but if you prefer to have a bit better punctuality I would recommend paying a bit more and going with another airline.

There is after all still time to improve.
