Flight Delay - No Info provided at checkin

Our flight GE123 to Cape Town on Tuesday 13:00 was delayed by an hour as soon as we started boarding.

No one at checkin counters informed me of this delay. I am traveling with a child and it has caused immense stress to our traveling time today.
