Refusing to give my full refund cancelation fee

My name is Khuli. 1st April 2022 I paid R500 deposit to Siyabonga Mudzoki for a couch. On the 9 April I told him to cancel my order, only today that he bought material he will give me R300 yet we didn't have a cancelation fee agreement. He is laughing when I say I will take further steps
