Worst spa experience at Life Day Spa Waterfront
The Life Day Spa at the Waterfront is both terrible and a complete rip-off. There are much better spas in Cape Town- go there instead. This is an account of our experience and all the things that contributed to the worst spa experience I have ever had: 1. The hostess (long braids) summoned us while standing in the passage (we were in the waiting area in our robes) using her hand – she did not introduce herself or welcome us to the spa, we were barely spoken to, just ushered into the first activity (Rasul chamber) like livestock. I had to request towels and we had no guidance as to what to expect, just given two bowls of things to put on ourselves. We were so confused that I ended up, covered in mud, coming out of the chamber into the hallway to ask when the final sprinklers would come on. 2. There was a ****roach in the Rasul chamber so I am sure you have an infestation somewhere as it was a young one. 3. The flotation therapy pool’s edges were so crumbly that the bottom of the pool is filled with cement silt – this can’t be safe to float in health-wise. 4. The shower in the flotation therapy room had some sort of paper ******* in the drain so has this shower been adequately cleaned? Another potential health violation. 5. Despite the two disaster treatments that we started with, I was optimistic that the full body massage would not disappoint. I have been to spas all over the world and body massages often end with great relaxation and sleep after so we were both looking forward to it. The massages were less than average (are your the******s adequately trained? ITEC qualified?). It was the first time we have had massages that did not include a foot or head massage and in general left us feeling underwhelmed. The warm booties were on our feet for less than 5 minutes. In fact, so underwhelming that neither of us felt relaxed at all and I struggled to sleep last night. Your receptionist will attest to how awake and displeased we were when we left the spa. 6. After our lacklustre treatments, we used the bathrooms – the ladies showers had some bulk-bought shampoo/conditioner and body wash. I thought Africology or Charlotte Rhys was the norm? There were two hooks at a distance for towels/robes necessitating a naked walk into the shower which frankly is a bit violating. This design is completely impractical. The lighting inside the shower was non-existent, both toilets did not have pleasant smells and the bins were overflowing with sanitary towels and paper. For an “award-winning” spa, this is shocking and begs the question if your spa has been staffed with adequately trained individuals?
