Drivers licence renewal

What is the logic behind these plastic drivers licence cards? Surely with smart ID we can fold the licence into the ID like before. What is the point of queuing every 5 years to renew the licence. It has done nothing to better the traffic control and or driving in SA. It only enriches the supply company (shabir shaik). Hopeless system. We should boycott it!!
