Drivers Licence card renewal required privately funded optometrist report.

I made a booking to renew card drivers license at Verulam motor licencing office roughly 6 weeks back. I was given the date to have gone yesterday 17 05 20222 at 8h 30. So I get there at 8h20 only to be told by the official that the booking is actually 09h00. I was asked to carry the following when the booking was made: 1. Proof of address 2. Original ID 3. Copy of I'd 4. Old drivers licence 5. R250

So at 09h00 the official calls me in . She asks for numbers 1 to 4 and then says that I dont have an optometrists report and I should leave and go get one done privately and return before 12 to be processed.

This is the first time this was mentioned. It did not get mentioned during the booking. So I leave. Get into Spec savers Phoenix. Pay r100 and return to have the licence processed. The booking system cost more in time , money , stress and running around than just following the queue.

The official said they do not conduct the eye test if yu come via a booking. She explained that eye tests are done at the licencing office only if yu follow the very long queue.

So this is a heads up. Dont get caught out. With the booking system I went in at 8.20 and came out after 11h00.
