Disgusted

My daughter went to do her drivers license (normal vehicle) today at Randburg testing station. When we booked on Monday of this week, the "systems were down" and we were in the queue for 5 hours (whithout information). Eventually the booking was done manually and todays date given for testing. Parents are not allowed to accompany the young people, and I have a feeling the reason is that it is easier to abuse these youngsters if older adults are not around! From the moment she arrived this morning she was treated with contempt, disrespect and verbally abused. Instructions and commands were "shouted" at her, no eye contact was made and she was not remotely treated like a decent human being. The fact that the eye test could not be done (as the systems were down) at time of booking was the first fighting point. After a big hooha, she was taken to the yard. Within minutes she was flunked after an instruction was shouted at her, and she misunderstood. I was watching the whole indaba (against the wishes of the local personel) and witnessed the whole incident. We were prepared for possible failure, but the absolute disregard of decency of the tester and the verbal abuse that accompanied the whole process is disgusting and absolutely unacceptable. The fact that she was failed, not because of a driving mistake, but because she is not used to people shouting at her, and could not understand the instruction, makes my blood boil. I hope Mr. Tester, that you enjoyed your day, because you surely spoiled a young girls day (and mine) and had her in tears for most of it. I am truly sorry that you hate your job that much that you feel you have to take it out on your clients. I hope that the power trip you must have been one has lifted your spirits today.
