Shocking service by Liberty Life

My wife was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2019 and as we had a life policy together with dreaded disease cover with Liberty Life, we submitted a claim. Liberty Life pays out claims at different stages of a disease and in spite of producing proof of the diagnosis of my wife's PD, it took over 5 months! to pay out the first instalment. The never ending forms and information requested by Liberty Life kept coming at various stages instead of asking for them together. And this in spite of the clear diagnosis! In 2022 as my wife's conditions worsened, we submitted a second claim together with doctor's reports and the necessary forms filled in by the neurologist. However, Liberty Life started applying unbelievable delaying tactics which dragged on for over a year. Further reports by the neurologist that we submitted, clearly stating the level of my wife's conditions, did nothing to settle our claim. Out of exasperation, following numerous emails and calls to Liberty Life, we reported our case to the Ombudsman for Short Term Insurance, and only after this was done, did Liberty Life finally make a further payment. This was done without sending us a breakdown of what this payment covered, and whether there are any further payments due. We just received a message from our bank of the amount paid out. I have requested a statement several days ago but as yet to receive one. I would advise NOT to take out any life cover or dreaded disease policies with Liberty Life as their service and lack of caring for their clients is SHOCKING. They are very quick in accepting your monthly payments, but it would appear that they purposely delay settling claims for dreaded diseases with the hope that the client dies before they have to pay out. We are now waiting to see whether the Ombudsman will charge Liberty Life a compensation fee for the huge loss of time and anguish that they have caused us. It speaks for itself when one needs to report a company to the Ombudsman in order to receive the expected settlement.
