SHAME ON YOU LIBERTY

My parents (Mr AB Retief) had a paid up funeral policy from Grobbelaars Pretoria (Policy No. 100870) covering my parents & four children. My dad passed away in September 1992 & they paid an amount for his funeral. My mother (IAM Retief) then received a letter from Grobbelaars to state that the policy had now been transferred to her name. My mother passed away on the 7th February 2021 and we contacted Grobbelaars to claim for the funeral. We were then told that LIBERT had ctaken over all their funeral policies. On contacting LIBERTY they first denied any knowledge of the policy & later we went to their PE branch & spoke to Leche who said that it was on their system but there was no funds available but they would look into it. On the 19th Feb 2021 they contacted me to say that they have oaid over R100!!!! That is shocking and totally unacceptable!!! One cannot even purchase flowers for that price!!! My husband and I only receive a Sassa pension and have no funds for a funeral. Does my mother have to be penalised because she lived until age 98???!!!! Shame on you LIBERTY!!! Be assured we will be taking this matter up with an attorney and the newspapers!!
