****** OF MY MONEY BY LIBERTY LIFE'S DISHONEST FINANCIAL ADVISOR.
I have been with Liberty life for a few years now. Have my Life cover, my husbands life cover, RA, Income protection, Investments and Gap cover as well. I am with an Advisor named Eugene van de Venter. I entrusted my entire financial and life cover portfolio with this advisor. In January 2016 I resigned from work. I was no longer employed, meaning unemployed. My advisor was aware of this as he had been at my office the day i resigned. Within that time I had gone for many interviews, but nothing was concrete about securing a position. I always messaged Eugene asking him to please keep an eye for a job for me, advising him that I was still unemployed. So he always knew that i was unemployed. During this time I had been paying an income protection premium, while being unemployed. Not once did Eugene advise me that if I was unemployed there was no need for Income protection as should something happen to me within that time of being unemployed there was NO benefit as I was not earning a salary due to being unemployed. Between 2016 and 2017 my provident fund was paying my premium for Income protection, unless I did an odd temp job, I would earn some funds, but that still did not mean that I was employed. Not once did he ever contact me regarding my Income protection. Until November 2018 when I messaged him up to advise that my Life insurance premiums were becoming too expensive and that we needed to review this. I had to wait to get this done as he was still on holiday. When he eventually did meet with me, he advised that I should let my Life premiums go off and then have the policy amounts adjusted otherwise I would have to go through the entire underwriting process again. Bear in mind, this was for Life cover! I then asked him what about my Income protection because my husband puts money into my account every month to cover for all my debit orders. My husband opened his business in August 2017. He transfers funds into my account every month from the time my Provident fund was depleted and could not pay for my bills. He asked HOW MUCH? and I said around R13000.00 /R13500.00 as my debit orders were in that range. I was then asked to make a payslip and give it to him as he would adjust the Income protection to that amount because since my husband was depositing funds into my account he could show that as an Income. He advised at that stage that I should not cancel my Income protection. My argument is, that Eugene knew that I was unemployed but never once contacted me regarding this matter, or advising me that Income protection was unnecessary as I was no longer employed. I paid since January 2016 to somewhere in 2017 for no reason, just because this advisor would lose out on a portion of his commission if he advised me correctly. I am in no way scared of underwriting but he made it seem as if it was a bad thing, like you don't want to go into underwriting. He misled me. I then contacted Libertys complaints department Mariet van Linde handled this complaint, she heard to the Advisors side of the story and came to a conclusion that she had found no negligence on the advisors part, based on the lies that he has cropped up. Clearly from his side of the story its evident that he was aware that I was unemployed for a long period as I kept reminding him that I was still unemployed. I have watsapp messages to him advising this. He also forwarded me numbers that I could contact for a job. Now he claims that he advised me. Yes only in November 2018. I had rep**** to Mariet that I was to be allocated another advisor with immediate effect as i no longer trust Eugene van de Venter with the managing of my portfolio. He is a dishonest person for which I advised that I was willing to take a Polygraph test to prove that he has been dishonest. I have nothing to hide or be afraid off. He has not once since the complaint been in contact with me, if he was not guilty pick up the phone or send me an email to find out what was going on, but I have not heard from him since then. Neither have I heard from Mariet or had any correspondence from Liberty Life. Its shocking how they get away with easy money from hiding information from customers. To think that we trust these advisors blindly to have our best interests at heart. To only find out that IT IS ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY!!!! WHATS IN IT FOR ME!!!! this is exactly what has happened to me. ****** OF MY MONEY BY LIBERTY LIFE!
