Liberty - Where promises are never kept
My mother-in-law passed away on the 21st of January 2023. We went to the Liberty offices in Menlyn to claim for her funeral benefit. They told us that the beneficiary is as per Will and that we should come with a letter of authority to complete the process for the money to be paid.
In that interim period, the letter of authority took long to be released and we had to take a loan so that she could be buried. On the 8th of March 2023, we went back to submit the letter of authority they requested. They told us that the funeral benefit would be paid this week. It is Friday (17/03/2023) already and no benefit has been paid. Liberty is extremely disappointing.

The beneficiary has been paid the money. However, Liberty only paid R3 330.61 instead of the R10 000 that was promised as the funeral benefit. Kindly explain as to why liberty only paid R3 330.61 instead of R10 000.
As explained, a debt was taken by a single person to help with the funeral cost. So, the whole R10 000 needs to be returned to that person to close off the debt.
