Liberty - smoke and mirrors

Liberty is a disgusting organization and I hope they are taken to task by someone who can afford the legal costs. My story has to do with my child's education policy that was sold to us nearly 14 years ago by a consultant. Needless to say we were expecting a fantastic amount when the policy matured; enough to cover the major cost of her university studies. We were promised around R120k payout. Recently I discovered the policy had matured but liberty did not inform us. When I confronted them, they sent me a payment schedule of R84k.

When I calculated how much I invested over the period, it amounted to R72k, so after 14 years my child was getting R12k extra!! This is not my concern as I expect them to rob people - I would have got out R96k if I put the money into my bank account - just saying.

Anyway, when requesting the funds to be paid into my account, which is the account they debit every month, they send me a form to fill out which has options to pay out the policy holder but not who pays the policy - odd right? that's not the end of it.. After challenging them via e-mail (because their useless call center does not answer), they tell me even though they debit my account every month, they cannot pay the money into that account unless my child signs a document - but wait, the child cannot sign if she's a minor (which is what my child is). And they know this because they have her birth date. So we are stone-walled and I cannot get my child's money because Liberty are ******* and lie about your return on investment and you can't report them to the ombudsman because that takes forever and eventually you die from sheer frustration due to their smoke and mirrors (reminds me of a political party) So after threatening them with legal action, they respond back 2 weeks later with the same form - can you believe the incompetence? I really think this is deliberate because it is impossible to employ people who are that dumb.

Anyway don't ever choose liberty - hide your money under the matress. It's off to my lawyers via AON - thank goodness I chose legal support.
