Liberty Life Delay Tactics - Retrenchment Policy

<div>In these critical and most unfortunate times in South Africa on the employment scare.&nbsp;</div><div>I have been engaging with Liberty from the time i was issued with Section 189A in April 2019. Forms have been filled in as per requirements. Countless called to Liberty at first were pleasant with them giving a reasonable time frame to process claim and payout. But now in the critical stages they are stalling. They cannot get this and that. My GP recently moved offices after a very long time in the previous offices. Liberty uses an excuse not to be able to locate him. And I've had to find the numbers for him. Mind you I have not recently seen the GP so have had to check the Internet to locate him, something this established company should well be able to do as well. After I sent them the contacts, I've yet again had to call and find out how far. They stalled again saying they don't have the number until I proved to them and only then confirmed they have it and they will get back to me ASAP as they will call in the same day. I am still waiting. This whole fiasco has taken a tall on me. It's hard enough to be facing this all alone and have Liberty seeming to be staging delays and conclusions for payout.</div><div>What do they do in cases if kids loosing parents and having to claim - I can only imagine the worst at this point. The rest of my cover with them is questionable in this regard.&nbsp;</div>

***From Liberty : 21.08.2019

Dear Mr. Malinga
Payments will commence in September (08/09/2019).

In order for us to release payment for September, we require the following;

-Proof of unemployment in the form of a stamped and dated UI/6a or a bank statement reflecting UIF payment for the respective month.

Please note that we are currently still validation the claim.

We require an Extract of Medical History (PMA) report by Dr Malaka. Claims spoke to Selena form Dr Malaka's office. This report is to determine the contractual validity of all early claims, an early claim is a claim lodged with an Insurer within the first three years of the policy commencement.
This validation may have nothing to do with the current claim itself, but it may affect the policy.

Issue still pends on and it seems I literally have to phone every day or so and send emails to see if process is attended to without which nothing is reported back in detail to me. I had to drill for details to reasons why the claim is not yet concluded.
Possible 2nd month of non payment as month end is quickly approaching, my critical creditors threatened and my daughters security compromised even though I thought I had made an informed and responsible decision to take up a pack of cover with Liberty, including this income protection cover that has brought so much misery with undisclosed check they say are not related but mandatory. I am in a state to say the least.

Conclusion : An additional PMA???
Upon receipt of the proof of unemployment UI/6a, we will be able to release the September 2019 payment.
We are still validating the policy contract, hence we are waiting for the PMA from your treating neurologist for you period of 2015 - 2017 with follow up reports.
Kindly forward the proof of unemployment UI/6a document as soon as possible as we cannot pay you without it.

As at 12.09.2019 Response from me
~Good day,
I have previously indicated that the UIF form you've requested can only be received after the 25.09.2019 (this will be the 1st date given to sign off forms for payment). Upon receipt of that payment in my bank account and/or receipt of the form, I will forward forms to you.

Regarding the PMA forms, I am not sure what is my responsibility in this regard as this is an administration to be executed by Liberty.
'Dear THABILE GOODNESS. UIF Claim approved. Submit Request for Payment after 15 days at a local Labour Centre/www.Ufiling.gov.za. Enquiries contact local Labour Centre .' - Received 04.09.2019.

As at 16.09.2019 Response from me
~Good day,
I have also just called Discovery to verify that I have not seen a Neurologist between 2015 - 2017. Why are asking this now, I thought you have received your PMA from my GP Dr. Malaka. What is the matter now?

~Good day Neriss,
I have tried to contact you on *** to get to the bottom of this issue, but to no avail.
Kindly get back to us as it is baffling why you say I have seen a Neurologist whereas I have not. I also called Discovery to check even with them if there's any record of such and they checked as back as 2011 for my records with no neurological treatments claimed.

Good day all,
Please note the I have forward the below response to the assessor,
Once we receive feedback from our assessor, we will advise accordingly.
We will only know if more information is needed when we receive feedback from our assessor.

18.09.2019 Follow up
Good morning Nerisse,
Has there been a clarity from your assessors? Kindly advise.

Hi Neriss,
Please give me time frame for your response. Monthend is fast approaching and I will be on the second month without income, running shortage dismally on my financial commitments.

Hi Thabile
Please note that the claim is in assess,
I am still awaiting feedback from the assessor,
Once we received I will revered back to you,

Hello Thabile, (Eventually from Claims assessor)
I've been trying to call you to no avail , Can you kindly call me back on ***.

Hi Fifi,
As per telephonic conversation I am perplexed why a Neurologist report is required when as far as I know, I have never been diagnosed with any diseases related to their expertise.
Trying to relate this to any reason I have visited a GP - If I can recall a visit to my GP, I had felt some funny mild feeling of numbness on my cheek and he never raised an issue of having stroke as you mentioned. Instead he just gave me Prednisone to take for a very short period that was not even a week as I had expressed to him my dislike to the prescribed medication and their side effects.
I didn't even have to go back to him for more medical attention. I find this strange to raise a flag of strokes etc. to my medical history that I have never suffered and the GP had never told me I've suffered a stroke even mild stroke, nor do I feel I have had an episode of having stroke at any time in my life for that matter. Why now a Neurologist report is required were a GP had not even referred me to one is a concern. I had to hastily call Discovery Health to check my reports as back a 2011 who also confirmed there had been no neurologist claims I have made in my medical history.
I await your response tomorrow as discussed. And thank you for treating this with urgency.
