Liberty Lifestyle Protector - A disability insurance ****

On 01/10/2009 I took a policy of Liberty Lifestyle Protector at the advice of their Agent who had signed me up as a client on numerous other policies. Many years later, in 2017 November, I had an unfortunate sudden health problem, which required me to approach Liberty Insurance. I duly contacted Liberty, through the Agent mentioned above and we had an initial (and last) meeting in my work office. The agent was not as enthusiastic as he had been every so often in the past when he asked me to increase and update my policies. Liberty Insurance has a colourful policy brochure which they kept updating over the years painted a rosy picture with catch phrases that indicated that they would keep their end of their bargain if one ever had an unfortunate event of being disabled. They even advertised “Catch All” disabilities to assure policy holders that if a disability resulted from what was not in their current lists they would cover it! They never came through for me. This was not a cheap policy as at inception it cost me a monthly premium of R2543,65 and duly escalated through the years. I have been trying to seek an amicable solution with Liberty to no avail. So, I would like to inform the general public to take a very careful decision when considering to insure themselves to avoid false promises like what Liberty has done.
