Liberty Life - The company that only cares about your money and not about their clients!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in September 2022. Due to the diagnosis being a dreaded disease under the Liberty Life Living Lifestyle option, I was advised to submit a claim which I submitted on the 8th of September 2022. I was also told that the claim will be handled for me, which did not happen. I sent the claim form to my treating physician and received the invoice to be paid by Liberty Life on the 13th of October 2022. The said invoice was supp**** to Liberty for payment on the same day. On the 14th I received an e-mail advising that my claim is being processed. Please note that this is more than a month after I submitted the claim. I was then asked to provide my FICA docs and the requested docs were provided on the same day.

I followed up regarding the payment of the medical report on numerous occasions and only received the proof of payment on the 9th of November 2022. The physician released the medical report on the same day and it was sent to Liberty Life.

On the 24th of November 2022 (more than 2 weeks later) I was advised that Liberty requires a PMA from my family doctor (Please note that my Family doctor started treating me for Type 2 Diabetes during 2021. After the diagnosis, I attempted to increase my cover and disclosed my newly diagnosed condition. Liberty asked for a Diabetic questionnaire from my family doctor at that stage which was provided. The reason for this info is that Liberty already had the info that they requested.). I then sent the PMA to my doctor's rooms. I received the invoice for payment on the 29th of November 2022 and same was sent to Liberty for payment. After numerous follow ups, Liberty only provided the proof of payment on the 13th of December 2022 (more than 2 weeks later) and the completed PMA was sent directly to Liberty the following day, the 14th of December 2022.

Once the PMA was received, I was informed that it can take up to 10 working days to arrive at a decision. It has been 14 working days, more than 3 weeks and I still have not received an outcome.

Please just note that the reason for the policy was to cover unforeseen medical expenses in the event of illness or disability. It has been almost 4 months since the claim was submitted and I still have not received an outcome or payout. I am currently unable to purchase my full month's supplies of insulin, needles, and test strips (supplies that I literally need to live) due to liberty's lack of service and compassion for their clients.

Please stay away from Liberty Life. They do not care about you as a client, only about your money.

Dear Ms. Ncube,

I received an e-mail from one Mrs. Mariana Rademeyer on the 6th advising me that she will provide a further response within 24 hours. This is 3 days ago.

This is truly unacceptable! My next complaints will be to the ombudsman and directly to Liberty's CEO.

Regards,
