Liberty Life - Shame on You!

Around 13 years ago I was advised to invest a R700K savings into a Liberty Life Endowment Annuity. In today's terms around R2m. When I received details of the investment Liberty had taken R1m for themselves and only invested R1m on my behalf. When I queried this with their broker he could not explain why he had not told me this fact. If I had known I would never have accepted such a poor investment! Thank goodness SA laws have changed and brokers have to explain all the details. When I tried to cancel the policy, because what I considered as theft, I was informed that I would loose the whole investment due to penalties and other miscellaneous charges! I have untreatable cancer and have only a short time to live. In trying to tie up my affairs I have cancelled all my bank accounts except for a credit card. When I asked Liberty to pay my May payment into my credit card, I was informed after a few chase up emails that this was not possible. The beneficiary lives in the UK and also cannot be receive this payment. Because Liberty is not a 'dealer'. Liberty is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is now owed by Standard Bank. How pathetic!! The next question I asked Liberty was how does the beneficiary claim? I am still waiting on a response. I forgive the broker. Maybe like Judas, the glint of money clouded your judgement. Liberty you used to be an ethical company but now in my opinion you worship at the Alter of the Money God! Shame on you!!!
