LIBERTY LIFE - An Awful Experience
Be very cautious of Liberty Life, here for you in life, but NOT YOUR BENEFICIARIES with your death. My dad passed away on September 26 this year. I submitted two Liberty Life policies ceded to my mum, which my dad had been paying for 50 years. I was at pains to make sure that all the information and documentation required by Liberty Life was absolutely correct as per the specific list of required documents on the Liberty Life website - "CLAIMENTS STATEMENT FOR DEATH CLAIM", and submitted the claim on the 18th of October. I received an email the following day to state that the policy could not be processed due to my dad's ID not having been submitted as a required document. Frustrated, I called Liberty Death Claims Department on the 19th to ask where my fathers ID is a required document as per their own specific list of documents listed on their website - the Liberty assistant told me that "it's probably because Liberty hasn't updated their website". I was then told "not to worry, we have a copy of your dad's ID, and will proceed with the claim". Fast forward a month later of silence from Liberty, and I call them today, November 20. On enquiring why my mum has not received the proceeds of my fathers policies, I'm told once more that the claim is being held up due to my fathers ID not having been submitted! I ask the assistant to please listen to the conversation I had a month before with Liberty, upon which I am cut off. Unsurprisingly, he has not called back. I will certainly never deal with this awful company, happy to take your hard earned money for decades, only to repay your beneficiaries with added pain after your passing.
