INSURERS WHO THINK THEY HAVE MEDICAL DEGREES

I was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma lentigo last year September which is considered to be life threatening by all the professors at LE32 Oncology Clinic at UCT. However Liberty Life took it upon themselves to claim that this is not a critical illness (for which I am covered) and is rather cosmetic surgery. The melanoma is situated on my ear which at any second could spread to my brain, perhaps at this point they would decide to pay out. Up to this point it has cost me R 225 000 out of my own pocket due to lack of earnings and medical bills. It is, quite frankly, disgusting. Do they seriously believe that I would want to have half of my ear removed for cosmetic reasons? It is a medical fact that melanoma is a cancer, so why, when you get cancer cover is this not an accepted medical fact? Where did Liberty Life get their Medical degrees from? They still continue to deduct monthly premiums for cancer cover!! Shocking!!
